The project started in 2002, born out of a discussion she had with South African president Nelson Mandela about combating poverty. The school opened on January 02, 2007 and its inaugural class of 72 girls graduated in 2011. The special was released later on this home video, including many scenes with Oprah’s guests, featuring Sidney Poitier, Quincy Jones, Spike Lee, Chris Rock, Chris Tucker, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Tyler Perry, Nick Ashford, Valerie Simpson, Diane Sawyer, Kenneth (Babyface) Edmonds, Star Jones Reynolds, India Arie, Patti LaBelle, Benny Madina, Holly Robinson Peete and Tina Turner.
It shows Oprah, the students and her guests, while they join her for the opening reception. Blige performed „No More Drama,“ followed by Tina with her famous Simply The Best. The associated home video features the music video and the story about the song.

Although only Tina is mentioned in the credits, it's a different Ike & Tina version with an orchestra background instrumentation. The movie wasn’t very successful, lasted only two weeks in cinemas and has never been officially released on home video.

Over-Nite Sensation is a studio album from Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention from 1973, followed by Zappa's solo album Apostrophe (') in 1974. Both albums were recorded during the same sessions at Ike Turner’s Bolic Sound studios with The Ikettes and Tina Turner doing the partly very difficult and strange background vocals on some tracks. Ike agreed for this deal, but refused that their names appeared in the credits. The Ikettes Linda Sims and Debbie Wilson recorded also the track „Cheepnis“ with Zappa on December 12, 1973. This song was released on the live album Roxy & Elsewhere in 1974.

The story is about a group of parents whose children have run away from home and the parents take the opportunity to rediscover their youth. The film received a Golden Palm award in Cannes.

An array of mostly American r&b, soul, rock, and jazz musicians like Wilson Picket, Santana, Roberta Flack, The Staple Singers and Ike & Tina Turner (including the Ikettes Ester Jones, Vera Hamilton and Jean Brown) were invited to participate in this event. The concert was later released for cinemas, on home video and selected performances on the soundtrack album.

is a documentary movie about The Rolling Stones 1969 US tour, which culminated in the disastrous Altamont concert. The film includes a scene with Ike & Tina Turner, performing their signature live song I’ve Been Loving You Too Long at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This concert was later released on the 1969 live album Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!, which was reissued in 2009 as a three disc set, featuring the complete opening set from Ike & Tina. The bootleg Gimme Shelter (The Complete Soundtrack) includes an otherwise unreleased „Backstage Jam“ from The Rolling Stones with Ike & Tina Turner from November 1969 in New York.

The segment with Ike & Tina (including the Ikettes Esther Jones, Vera Hamilton and Jean Brown) was recorded separately in 1970 and spliced into the movie. It includes also performances by Patty Austin, Five Stair Steps and Cubie, The Edwin Hawkins Singers, Jackie Mabley, Clara Ward Singers, The Brooklyn Bridge, and The Winstons. The title song was also recorded by Ike & Tina and is available on some rarities sampler. The movie is still waiting for a release on home video.
