Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

is a museum in Cleveland, celebrating the most important musicians and producers. Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. In 1989, Tina honored Phil Spector with a speech at the ceremony of his induction. Two years later in 1991, Phil Spector inducted Ike & Tina Turner on their behalf, because Ike was in prison and Tina didn’t want to participate. This 9 DVD collection includes the most memorable moments of every ceremony as well as lots of live appearances. Although Tina is only mentioned on disc four, there are additional live appearances from her, performing on stage together with Mick Jagger and other artists.

The Kennedy Center Honors has been awarded annually since 1977 on the first weekend in December by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. to several artists for their extraordinary contributions to American culture with their life's work. In 2005, the award was presented by the president of the United States, George W. Bush to Tina Turner, alongside with Tony Bennett, Suzanne Farrell, Julie Harris and Robert Redford.

Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!

is an album from The Rolling Stones, originally released in 1970 with live performances from The Stones only, recorded mainly at Madison Square Garden in New York. It was reissued in 2009 as an extended anniversary edition, featuring the opening sets on disc three from B.B. King (the first five tracks) and Ike & Tina Turner, which were on tour with The Stones in November 1969. The performance of the song I’ve Been Loving You Too Long was also included in the concert movie Gimme Shelter in 1970. The album features one of the best live recordings from Ike & Tina with an absolutely wonderful version of Proud Mary.

The First Edition trotted out hits, with weekly appearances by Canadian and American guests. Ike & Tina Turner were guests at the episode from March 25, 1972 and performed three songs live.

is a tribute album from Herbie Hancock, featuring cover versions of songs originally written and performed by singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell. Tina Turner contributed the wonderful jazz song „Edith And The Kingpin,“ which contains also an uncredited guitar part from Prince. An otherwise unreleased Radio Edit of the song was released only for radio stations. The album won a Grammy Award in 2008.

Building A Dream

was a one-hour TV-Special, chronicling Oprah's five-year journey in creating a Leadership Academy for disadvantaged girls in South Africa. The project started in 2002, born out of a discussion she had with South African president Nelson Mandela about combating poverty. The school opened on January 02, 2007 and its inaugural class of 72 girls graduated in 2011. The special was released later on this home video, including many scenes with Oprah’s guests, featuring Sidney Poitier, Quincy Jones, Spike Lee, Chris Rock, Chris Tucker, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Tyler Perry, Nick Ashford, Valerie Simpson, Diane Sawyer, Kenneth (Babyface) Edmonds, Star Jones Reynolds, India Arie, Patti LaBelle, Benny Madina, Holly Robinson Peete and Tina Turner.

It shows Oprah, the students and her guests, while they join her for the opening reception. The 4-day event started in Sun City with a birthday party for her best friend Gayle King and a safari the next day. The New Year's Eve began with a dinner and at the stroke of midnight a visual extravaganza of sparklers lit up the tables, stage and dance floor. Mary J. Blige performed „No More Drama,“ followed by Tina with her famous Simply The Best. The next day, they met all in Johannesburg for dinner and conversation and on February 2, in the small town of Henley-on-Klip, guests gathered while Nelson Mandela delivered an inspiring speech for the opening of the academy.

What’s Love? Tribute

is the first and only Tina Turner tribute album with some of her biggest solo hits as well as some songs from Ike & Tina Turner. The songs were performed by artists like Kip Winger (former Alice Cooper bass player), Alannah Myles (best known for the stunning track „Black Velvet“), Tiffany (had a #1 on the American Billboard charts), Darlene Love (released several songs from Phil Spector in 1963) and Jane Child (nominated for 4 Juno awards). Richard Kendrick produced ten of the songs and was responsible for the album concept and instrumentation. The full album with a different song order was reissued on the 3 CD set The Many Faces of Tina Turner in 2018.

Barnes Hits

is a video sampler from the Australian singer Jimmy Barnes, featuring the music video for the duet and single Simply The Best from 1992. It's a re-recorded version of Tina’s 1989 hit single The Best, only released in Australia and New Zealand and was also used for an advertising campaign for the New South Wales Rugby League.

Brother Bear

is the soundtrack album for the same named Disney movie, featuring the title song „Great Spirits“ performed by Tina Turner. For promotion, Tina attended also the movie premiere in New York City on October 20, 2003 and performed the song live together with Phil Collins. The Road To Memphis

is a documentary, which traces the musical odyssey of blues legend B.B. King and pays tribute to the city that gave birth to a new style of blues. It also takes us on the road and behind the scenes with Memphis blues veterans Bobby Rush and Rosco Gordon. This homage to Memphis features original performances by B.B. King, Bobby Rush, Rosco Gordon, Ike Turner, Rev. Gatemouth Moore and Little Milton, as well as historical footage of Howlin’ Wolf, B.B. The Lion King Collection

is a compilation album with songs from and inspired by „The Lion King“ movies. Tina contributed the track „He Lives in You,“ which was originally released from Lebo M. on the album „Rhythm of the Pride Lands“ in 1995. The song features English lyrics mixed with some Zulu lyrics, including „Ingonyama nengw enamabala“ (The royal lion wears his leopard spots) and the background lyrics of „Hela hm Mamela“.

Divas Live '99

was a charity concert for the VH-1 „Save The Music Foundation“ at New Yorks Beacon Theatre on April 13, 1999. Tina opened the show and performed two songs solo as well as „The Bitch Is Back“ together with Elton John and last but not least Proud Mary with Elton and Cher. The entire performance from Tina, but unfortunately without Let's Stay Together, was released on LP and home video.

Carnival!

is a benefit album from the Rainforest Foundation Fund. Tina contributed the traditional „Row, Row, Row Your Boat,“ recorded live while she was on the road with her Wildest Dreams Tour. Tina already supported the Fund in 1993 at the Rock for the Rainforest concert, where she performed in New York together with Bryan Adams.

Grammy’s Greatest Moments

is an album and home video with selected live performances from different Grammy ceremonies. It includes Tina’s live interpretation of What's Love Got To Do With It from the 27th Grammy Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, on February 26, 1985. TINA

is a song and single from Tony Joe White, released in 1993. Tony was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist, best known for his 1969 hit „Polk Salad Annie.“ He wrote also four songs for Tina’s 1989 album Foreign Affair. Tina and Tony became friends and with this song, he paid his respect to her with wonderful and very personal lyrics.

Music of Quality and Distinction Vol. 2

from the British Electric Foundation (B.E.F.) is the follow up album to Vol. 1 from 1982. It includes a remixed version of the song A Change Is Gonna Come, which Tina recorded already in 1986. The song is a Sam Cooke composition from 1964 and Tina's original studio version was released only on the German soundtrack album Zabou in 1987. This remixed version was later also included into the box set The Collected Recordings. A live version from the album Live In Europe was released as a single in 1988.

Two Rooms

is an Elton John tribute album and home video with interpretations of songs, written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. Tina contributed a new recording of „The Bitch Is Back,“ first released on her album Rough in 1978. She also performed this song live in her pre-comeback concerts. The video includes a short scene from the recording session.

We Are The World

was recorded by the supergroup USA for Africa with some of the most famous artists in the music industry, including Tina Turner. With sales in excess of 20 million copies, it’s the fastest-selling American pop single in history, raised over $63 million for humanitarian aid in Ethiopia. Tina contributed also an edited version of the song „Total Control“ for the album. A longer version was later included into the tracklist of the box set The Collected Recordings in 1994. The associated home video features the music video and the story about the song.

The music video was filmed on January 28, 1985 at A&M Recording Studios in Hollywood during the recording session with all participating artists. It shows the solo parts, the lead singer Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and the whole choir together.

is a musical movie from 1978 with the Bee Gees as the main actors. The story is based on the same named Beatles album from 1967. In the last scene of the movie, filmed at MGM Studios on December 16, 1977, the cast is joined by several special guests including Tina Turner to perform the reprise of the title track.

is a musical documentary with newsreel footage from the 1940's and songs from the Beatles as the soundtrack. The songs were performed by different artists, including Ike & Tina Turner’s Come Together. Although only Tina is mentioned in the credits, it's a different Ike & Tina version with an orchestra background instrumentation. The movie wasn’t very successful, lasted only two weeks in cinemas and has never been officially released on home video.

Frank Zappa

Over-Nite Sensation is a studio album from Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention from 1973, followed by Zappa's solo album Apostrophe (') in 1974. Both albums were recorded during the same sessions at Ike Turner’s Bolic Sound studios with The Ikettes and Tina Turner doing the partly very difficult and strange background vocals on some tracks. Ike agreed for this deal, but refused that their names appeared in the credits. The Ikettes Linda Sims and Debbie Wilson recorded also the track „Cheepnis“ with Zappa on December 12, 1973. This song was released on the live album Roxy & Elsewhere in 1974.

Taking Off

is a comedy movie, including a short cameo appearance from Ike & Tina Turner (with the Ikettes Ester Jones, Vera Hamilton and Jean Brown) performing the song Goodbye So Long, while the parents watching their concert. The story is about a group of parents whose children have run away from home and the parents take the opportunity to rediscover their youth. The film received a Golden Palm award in Cannes.

Gimme Shelter

is a documentary movie about The Rolling Stones 1969 US tour, which culminated in the disastrous Altamont concert. The film includes a scene with Ike & Tina Turner, performing their signature live song I’ve Been Loving You Too Long at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This concert was later released on the 1969 live album Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!, which was reissued in 2009 as a three disc set, featuring the complete opening set from Ike & Tina. The bootleg Gimme Shelter (The Complete Soundtrack) includes an otherwise unreleased „Backstage Jam“ from The Rolling Stones with Ike & Tina Turner from November 1969 in New York.

It’s Your Thing

is a concert movie from The Isley Brothers, filmed in New York at Yankee Stadium on June 21, 1969. The segment with Ike & Tina (including the Ikettes Esther Jones, Vera Hamilton and Jean Brown) was recorded separately in 1970 and spliced into the movie. It includes also performances by Patty Austin, Five Stair Steps and Cubie, The Edwin Hawkins Singers, Jackie Mabley, Clara Ward Singers, The Brooklyn Bridge, and The Winstons. The title song was also recorded by Ike & Tina and is available on some rarities sampler. The movie is still waiting for a release on home video.
