Ike & Tina Turner - I’ve Been Loving You Too Long - Single

I’ve Been Loving You Too Long

Single (1969)

I’ve Been Loving You Too Long is a cover version from Otis Reeding and was released first in 1969 and a second time in America with a different b-side, after Ike & Tina performed it in the Rolling Stones movie Gimme Shelter. This live version from the Madison Square Garden in New York is available on the album Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out! from 2009. Ike & Tina’s version differs from the original, because they added an additional section with an explicit conversation between them. In their live shows, Tina handled the microphone in a raunchy way, while Ike made suggestive slurping noises. The single was reviewed in Billboard magazine in it’s issue from April 19, 1969 and again in the issue from July 10, 1971.
