Ike & Tina Turner - I’ve Been Loving You Too Long - Single

I’ve Been Loving You Too Long

Single (1969)

I’ve Been Loving You Too Long is a cover version from Otis Reeding and was released twice in America with different b-side tracks, reviewed in Billboard magazine in it’s issue from April 19, 1969 and July 10, 1971. Ike & Tina’s version differs from the original, because they added an additional section with an explicit conversation between them. In their live shows, Tina handled the microphone in a raunchy way, while Ike made suggestive slurping noises. The duo performed the song also in the movie Gimme Shelter, live from Madison Square Garden in New York. This version is available on the album Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out! from 2009. Instead of I’ve Been Loving You Too Long, the b-side track Crazy Bout’ You Baby was released in England at the same time as a single.
