The Private Dancer 40th Anniversary Edition celebrates 40 years of Tina Turner’s iconic breakthrough album Private Dancer, featuring a stunning array of previously unreleased tracks, live performances, and footage. All tracks are remastered.
Beside a deluxe box set with an art card, updated liner notes in the booklet and an additional Blu-ray disc including live footage and music videos, it’s also available as a 1LP pearl and picture vinyl, an expanded 2 CD version, and digitally.
The box set includes the Private Dancer Tour show filmed at the NEC in Birmingham newly upgraded to 4k, featuring unforgettable performances with David Bowie and Bryan Adams, as well as eight upgraded music videos, with the Private Dancer fully restored to 4K from its original 35mm film.
Disc two includes many previously unreleased tracks and the never before heard song Hot For You Baby, the first single to promote this package. Additionally, it features a complete concert from Tina’s World Tour, recorded at Park West in Chicago on August 2, 1984 as well as all mixes from the Mad Max (Beyond Thunderdome) single releases.

Private Dancer was originally released in May 1984 and marked Tina’s triumphant comeback, becoming a cultural phenomenon. Dubbed by American Songwriter as 'one of the most charismatic comebacks of modern rock' and AllMusic as 'without question, Turner‘s finest hour as a solo artist.' The 5x platinum record peaked at #2 on the UK Albums Chart, #3 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. Turner would later bring home four Grammy Award wins for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for Better Be Good To Me and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year for the top Billboard Hot 100 track, What’s Love Got To Do With It.
features a complete concert from the Park West Music Theatre in Chicago on August 17, 1984, broadcasted on the Westwood One radio network. It was part of Tina’s World Tour, not to be confused with the Private Dancer Tour in 1985. Some tracks were later used as b-sides on some of the Private Dancer singles.
The box set includes a Blu-ray with an upgraded 55-minute Private Dancer Tour show filmed at the NEC in Birmingham between two historic nights, March 23 and 24, 1985. Directed by David Mallet and featuring unforgettable performances with David Bowie and Bryan Adams, this landmark concert has been meticulously restored by Mallet, offering a front-row experience of Tina at her electrifying best. The same tracks are also available on compact disc.
Alongside the Birmingham show, the Blu-ray includes additionally six upgraded music videos, with the Private Dancer fully restored to 4K from it’s original 35mm film.
