It Takes Two was originally recorded from Marvin Gaye in 1966. Rod Stewart and Tina covered the song in 1990 and released it as the lead single from Rod's album Vagabond Heart, but it was also included into the tracklist of Tina’s greatest hits compilation Simply The Best the following year. The live b-side track Hot Legs (without vocals from Tina) was taken from the album Absolutely Live. The single was not released in America.
The music video was filmed at the Côte d’Azur in Nice and shows Tina singing the first part of the song alone in a nightclub with a lot of people around her. Rod is driving through the streets of Nice and joins her to perform the rest of the song together. In the background, we can also see Tina’s band with James Ralston and Jack Bruno. In the end, Tina and Rod leave the club together and walk the streets of Nice.
The video was also used for a Pepsi advertising campaign in a slightly different version and a „Making of“ includes many backstage scenes and interviews.
