The German postal service celebrates Tina Turner with a special commemorative stamp, as part of the 'Legends of Pop/Rock Music‘ series. Tina is the first female musician to be featured.
Available from November 3, the stamp celebrates Turner’s unparalleled career, during which she dominated charts and stages worldwide with songs such as Nutbush City Limits, The Best, What’s Love Got To Do With It and many more. All of them became top 10 hits in Germany and with We Don’t Need Another Hero, she reached #1 in 1985. On her concert tours, she sold out Germany’s largest concert venues, and Ike & Tina Turner were the first musical act to outsold the Olympic Hall in Munich.
„Tina Turner’s musical journey has inspired hundreds of millions globally and continues to resonate with new generations. We are honored to partner with Deutsche Post on this unique tribute, which beautifully captures her essence and celebrates her deep connection with her fans, especially in Germany. This is a testament to her unparalleled artistry and the powerful legacy that BMG is committed to preserving and championing.“ — Alistair Norbury, President, UK, EU & APAC at BMG
Designed by Jan-Niklas Kröger, the stamp is also available in a limited gold edition. This consists of the stamp with serial numbers 1–1,000, along with a gold-embellished image of the stamp in a premium hardcover. Additionally, a 'Tina Turner' anniversary letter including an information sheet and a postcard is available.
„It is a pleasure for us to honor Tina Turner with a special postage stamp. During her lifetime, she was an international superstar and very popular in Germany. People still remember her hits today. That’s why it was clear to us that she had to be the first female musician included in our special stamp series ‘Legends of Pop/Rock Music.’ Surely, many of her fans will be delighted to be now able to frank their mail with their idol.“ — Benjamin Rasch, Head of Product Management and Marketing at Deutsche Post
