Ike & Tina Turner - Sweet Rhode Island Red - Album

Sweet Rhode Island Red

Album (1974)

Sweet Rhode Island Red is the very last studio album from Ike & Tina Turner before they separated. It contains many songs written by Tina Turner, as well as some cover versions. The album was created exclusively for the international market and was only available through the Columbia Record Club in the United States. The track Sexy Ida was only included in some European countries into the tracklist of the album, to promote the duos ongoing tour. Most of the songs were remixed and reissued after Tina’s comeback, released on the compilation Golden Empire. The album was digitally remastered in 2012 on the double CD Sweet Rhode Island Red / The Gospel According To Ike & Tina.

What more can be said of the team of Ike & Tina Turner that hasn’t been said or written before? Adjectives like dynamic, soulful, powerful and sensational may not even be strong enough to express the way Ike & Tina turn on an audience. Ever since that night in St. Louis when Tina first sang with Ike’s band, they have been making hit music together. From their first record together, "Fool In Love" (a million seller) to their big hit of ’74, "Nutbush City Limits", they have had a successful string of great song hits and with this new album, "Sweet Rhode Island Red", they deliver again in a style that is pure Ike & Tina.
