Die Goldene Europa was the oldest German television award for national and international artists, presented from 1968 to 2003. Host of the show was Manfred Sexauer, who was also the host of the German music show Musikladen.

Tina Turner received the award in 1990, presented by the German politician Oskar Lafontaine. Additionally, she was also presented with one gold and two platinum discs for more than a million sales of her Foreign Affair album and promoted her recent German single Foreign Affair.
