IKE & TINA: Television

Ike & Tina Turner - Top of the Pops - TV

September 27, 1973

Top of the Pops was a weekly British music chart television programme, mixing live performances with pop videos. Broadcasted between January 1964 and July 2006, it's the longest-running music show in the world. Ike & Tina Turner presented at least twice their recent singles: First in 1966 with the top 10 hit River Deep, Mountain High and again in 1973 with Nutbush City Limits. Because the duo was not present in the studio, they showed only videos with dancers and the music came from tape. After Tina Turner went solo, she was eleven times guest in the show over a period of 17 years.
