Tina Turner - Twenty Four Seven - Album

Twenty Four Seven

Album / Singles / Tour / Video / Promo (1999)

Twenty Four Seven is the tenth and very last studio album from Tina Turner. Actually, Tina wanted only a greatest hits album and planned an elaborate co-headlining tour with Elton John. Because of disagreements between Tina and Elton at the rehearsals for the VH-1 special Divas Live, Tina canceled all common activities and decided with her manager Roger Davies to record her final studio album in London. The songs were written by various songwriters, including the Bee Gees and Tina’s longtime friend Terry Britten. It was first released in Europe, following the American release three month later.

While Tina was on tour in Europe, a two disc Limited Edition Special Pack was released with the original album plus a bonus disc featuring live tracks, taken from Tina’s 60th birthday special Celebrate!

When The Heartache Is Over

was the first single and is Tina’s most remixed song ever with regular remixes from 7th Disctrict, Metro and Hex Hector as well as a lot of other DJ mixes. Tina promoted it at several TV-Shows in Europe, at the Super Bowl pre-game show in America and performed it live at her Twenty Four Seven Tour. The British dance band Freemasons used the lyrics from the chorus in 2005 for their single „Love On My Mind“.

The music video features Tina dancing in front of a huge illuminated 'T I N A’ sign and video wall, together with some dancers around her. The clip is available in several remixed and extended versions.

Whatever You Need

was the second single in England and the third one in Germany, featuring vocal performances from The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The various releases include some live recordings, taken from Tina’s 60th birthday special Celebrate! Tina promoted the song at several TV-Shows and performed it live at her Twenty Four Seven Tour in 2000. It was also an American promotional record, which includes a never officially released radio edit.

The music video was filmed in Paris and shows Tina walking through a tunnel, dressed with a leather jacket and jeans. Later she is sitting on a public staircase and we see a lot of young people coming to this place, sitting next to Tina and singing the song together with her.

Promotion

Parlophone Records released a Cassette Sampler with 5 tracks and an Interview Disc in which Tina talks about the new songs, producers and her tour plans. The interview is divided in 14 cuts (total duration 11 minutes) and was taken at various locations in America. It comes with a cardboard sleeve and an inlet, which features all questions as well as all ins and outs and durations of Tina’s answers.

An additional Box Set with a pull-out slipcase features the original album on compact disc in a gatefold cardboard sleeve, a VHS video with an EPK, a six page booklet with the story about the new album and two promo pictures.

The Launch Party for the album was on October 27 in Paris with a Press Conference and the performance of three songs live on stage at the Buddha Bar in front of 250 visitors, mostly representatives of the European press, but also 50 fans from a contest organized by the NRJ radio station and the FNAC store. In America, Tina performed at the Super Bowl on January 30 in Atlanta with a Press Conference in advance.

To promote the tour in England, a Millenium Tour Sampler was released in 2000 with some of Tina’s well known hits and two live tracks from the special Celebrate! Additionally, the song Talk To My Heart and the title track Twenty Four Seven were released as promotional singles for radio stations.
