Ike & Tina Turner - Soul To Soul - Movie / Album / Video

Soul To Soul was a concert festival for Ghanas 14th Independence Day on March 06, 1971 in Accra. An array of mostly American r&b, soul, rock, and jazz musicians like Wilson Picket, Santana, Roberta Flack, The Staple Singers and Ike & Tina Turner (including the Ikettes Ester Jones, Vera Hamilton and Jean Brown) were invited to participate in this event. Over 100,000 enthusiastic locals filled Accra’s Black Star Square for a continuous 15 hours of music. The festival was planned in part for the annual celebration of Ghana’s independence, but also as an invitation to a 'homecoming' for these noted African-American artists to return to Africa. The concert was later released for cinemas, on home video and selected performances on the soundtrack album, which was reviewed in Billboard magazine in it’s issue from September 18, 1971.
