Prisoner In Love (1963)

The Ikettes - Prisoner In Love - Single

Prisoner In Love (No Bail In This Jail) is the second single from The Ikettes on Ike’s own record label „Teena“. Both songs are not available on any album. The title track features backing vocals from Tina Turner. The Cashbox magazine reported on June 8, 1963, that in order to avoid confusion with „Prisoner of Love“ by James Brown, there’s a change of this single from „Prisoner In Love“ to „No Bail In This Jail“.

Change Teena Singles Title: Because of possible title confusion, there's been a change in a singles disking on the Teena label, owned by Ike & Tina Turner. The Ikettes' disking of „Prisoner in Love“ - not the evergreen „Prisoner of Love“ - is now known as „No Bail in This Jail.“

Sue Release Info (UK)

This is the girlie groups strongest offering since „I'm Blue,“ and is in very similar vein to their first hit. Wild shouting lead vocal over an irresistible backing makes for one of the hottest discs on Sue for a long time. Should score heavily. „Those Words“ is not too strong, a melodic ballad which becomes rather dreary.
