Tina Turner - Wildest Dreams - Album

Wildest Dreams

Album (1996)

Wildest Dreams is the ninth solo studio album from Tina Turner with a total of six single releases. It contains the theme song for the movie Goldeneye, which was already a single in 1995, the two cover songs Missing You and „Unfinished Sympathy“ and songs written by the Pet Shop Boys and Sheryl Crow. The title song In Your Wildest Dreams features guest vocals from Antonio Banderas on the European version and from Barry White on the North American release. Sting is also a special guest vocalist on the song On Silent Wings. The American version of the album was released with an alternate cover and some changes in the tracklist, including a hidden track. The Japanese edition includes the additional bonus track „Love Is A Beautiful Thing“.

While Tina was on tour in Europe, a two disc Special Tour Edition was released, including the original album plus a bonus disc with remixes, non-album tracks and live recordings from her Amsterdam concert.

Singles

Goldeneye, the theme song for the same named James Bond movie was the first single already in 1995, before the recording of the album. The first single to promote the album in Europe was Whatever You Want, noted for it’s complex orchestral arrangement and production. The country-flavoured track On Silent Wings was the second single in Europe and the third one in America, including guest vocals from Sting. Missing You was originally a hit single from John Wait in 1984. It was released as the first single in America and the third one in Europe. Tina promoted it at the American TV-Show 60 Minutes with an unplugged version. The wonderful Something Beautiful Remains was the fourth single in England and was also released as a promotional record in America. The title track In Your Wildest Dreams was the second single in America and the last one in Europe. The original guest vocals from Antonio Banderas on the European album were replaced with vocals from Barry White for the American market and single release.

In Johannesburg, she was accompanied on stage by the Vusa Dance Company on the song „Do What You Do“ and at the three concerts in Paris, actor Bruce Willis and his band „The Accelerators“ were the opening act and Bruce joined Tina on stage for the encore song Unfinished Sympathy. Oprah Winfrey announced that she would follow the tour with her talk show from Houston to New York City. The hightlight of the show was the song Goldeneye, when Tina appeared in a golden iris.
