Grand Gala du Disque was an annual Dutch music gala for classical music and for popular music with national and international artists, founded in 1960. It was for many years the most popular TV show in Holland. Ike & Tina Turner with the band and the Ikettes (Ester Jones, Edna Richardson and Claudia Lennear) have been guests at the RAI Congress Center in Amsterdam on March 07, 1969 alongside other stars like Gladys Knight and The Pips, Miriam Makeba, Peggy March, Chet Atkins, Buck Owens and the Sandpipers. The duo opened with the song „Respect“ and the setlist included also the track We Need An Understanding.

… And then it was soultime again thanks to Ike and Tina Turner and the Ikettes. Four voices and eight legs guaranteed the audience the most explosive soul-performance they had ever seen. Luckily there were the Sandpipers to cool the people down again…
